Ho, ho, ho!

Ladies and gentlemen, the most festive day of the year is drawing ever closer.

While there are plenty of holiday light displays up around town thanks to various companies and organizations (the huge Christmas tree at Chinook Centre, ZooLights at the Calgary Zoo, and the Lions Festival of Lights on 14th Street NW, to name a few), there’s just something special about homeowners putting up their very own displays.

We’ve been driving around trying to find the best ones in the city, and thought we’d share with you the most extravagant area we’ve found so far…

Taking a quick drive around this neighbourhood is a great pastime for the family. All kids love looking at twinkling lights and epic displays — and adults may just get a kick out of it too.

Our absolute top pick is on the corner of Hallbrook Drive SW and Hobart Road SW, where the owners have installed giant (and we mean giant) inflatable Christmas creatures and characters.

Special mentions go out to those along Spokane Street SW, 12 Street SW, Harley Road SW and 89 Avenue SW.

There are some wonderful houses that the community has put applause-worthy effort into. Well done Calgary, keep up the good work.
