Christmas Day death in Edmonton deemed a homicide: police

A 28-year-old man was killed in Edmonton in Christmas morning.

A release from the Edmonton Police Service said police determined Abdinasir Shire’s death a homicide.

According to the release, shots were fired in the area of 117th Street and 107th Avenue at around 7:20 am.

Shire was found suffering from gunshot wounds outside the apartment building, and was treated by paramedics but passed away shortly after, police said.

The release also noted that persons were seen leaving the scene in vehicles.

Police are now hoping to speak with any witnesses, or anyone were present at the time of the incident.
