SportChek set to open a huge Destination Sport store in Chinook Centre
SportChek is set to move into a larger space at Calgary’s Chinook Centre, bringing its two existing mall locations together into one new store.
Canadian Tire Corporation, which owns SportChek, confirmed to Daily Hive that the retailer is planning to relocate within the shopping centre in 2027.
The new location will be a Destination Sport store, which SportChek says will offer a larger assortment of products, sport-focused shopping zones, enhanced brand experiences, and upgraded in-store services.

“Chinook Centre is an important market for SportChek, and this move reflects our continued investment in building athlete-led stores in key local communities,” the Canadian Tire Corporation said.
The relocation will mark a major change for SportChek at Chinook Centre, where the company currently operates two separate locations within the mall. The new store will bring those locations together into one larger destination focused on a better shopping experience.
While Canadian Tire Corporation did not confirm the exact location of the new store within the mall, it said more details about the new location, including the store’s size and opening timeline, will be shared as plans progress.
Chinook Centre has gotten some serious store upgrades over the past few months, with a world-renowned burger chain recently opening in the mall.
