Century-old church/opera house goes up for sale in the Beltline

Here’s your chance to secure yourself a little piece of Calgary’s past.

A century-old heritage building has gone up for sale in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood, and while the space is currently being leased by the Calgary Opera Association, its listing notes that the site does allow for residential use.

The Wesley Church Building has been standing at its spot on the intersection of 14th Avenue and 7th Street SW since 1918, and it is officially classified as a Theatre/Concert Hall under the Sports and Entertainment property type.

As a distress sale, the price isn’t listed, though we’re sure someone savvy (and wealthy) enough would be able to pick this up for a steal.

“Wesley Church is a unique single-tenant heritage building located at the corner of 14 Ave SW and 7 St SW in the Beltline area of Calgary,” states the listing.

“The building features 28,269 SF of fully occupied space leased to the Calgary Opera Association. This investment offering provides stable cash flows with one-of-a-kind repositioning potential.”

So, if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to own a church-turned-concert hall (and you just so happened to win the lottery recently) this 28,000-sq-ft space may just be your destiny!
