4 things you need to know about cauliflower pizza (including how it tastes)

Okay, let’s put this out there: Cauliflower is seriously underrated.

This incredibly versatile veggie is packed with superfood nutrition (something we all want), and it has the power to take your favourite comfort foods to new levels. Besides, what other vegetable can magically become pizza and still taste like the thin, crispy, drool-worthy food of your dreams?

Yes, cauliflower pizza is a thing — a real thing. And it might just change your life.

But we don’t expect you to go to the grocery store and buy heaps of cauliflower to throw into a blender. That would be messy. Instead, you can opt for CAULIPOWER‘s ready-to-use pizzas, saving you precious time (you’re welcome).

CAULIPOWER was founded by Gail Becker, a mom of two boys with celiac disease, who was desperately seeking a nutritious, gluten-free option for her sons that wasn’t packed full of fat, sugar, sodium, and calories. With the aim of revolutionizing common comfort foods by making them better for you, CAULIPOWER is giving everyone access to tasty, nutritious alternatives to highly-processed foods. And it’s proudly made in Canada, too!

It tastes just as good as the real thing

If we’re being completely honest, does it taste exactly like the real thing?

No. But it would be almost impossible to find something that matches up to the exact taste and feel of a real, full-carb, pizza crust, let’s be real.

As far as alternatives go, it’s pretty darn good. If you’re looking for something low-carb, but really can’t be fussed with going through the process of making your own cauliflower crust, then this might just be what you’re after.

Texture-wise, it’s similar to a regular pizza crust, except it doesn’t make you feel overly full in the same way that bread does. And because it’s still topped with all your favourite toppings (you can also get a plain crust and create your own), you’re still getting your dose of cheesy, marinara sauce-y goodness. Pro tip: Buy two pizzas at a time because you may not want to share just one with all your friends.

It’s a nutrient powerhouse

Essentially, it’s pizza — but good for you. (What a concept!) The fact is, cauliflower delivers some heavy-hitting nutrients. And it’s the main ingredient in CAULIPOWER! Packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and manganese, that’s not all. It’s also full of phytonutrients, vitamin K, and omega-3.

The vegetable itself has been ranked as one of the most nutrient dense vegetables. So yes, it brings a lot to the table. Maybe pizza can be your new favourite vegetable.

It may just be the newest viral food trend in 2019

If you walk through any health food or grocery store in 2019, you’ll notice that nearly every good carb also has a cauliflower alternative. We’re talking cauliflower fried rice, cauliflower gnocchi, you name it.

And it’s not just at grocery stores either. There are a number of chains throughout the U.S. that are starting to offer cauliflower pizza crusts as an alternative on their menus, and it’s only a matter of time before they make their way to Canadian restaurants!

It has fewer carbs than regular pizza

Gaining popularity first as an alternative to rice, cauliflower is pretty much the perfect way to eat vegetables while pretending you’re eating carbs. It tastes just as delicious as the real thing, and it’s a great substitute for rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, and yes, pizza. It’s a delicious pizza that loves you back.

If you’re trying to go for a lower carb diet, then CAULIPOWER might just be perfect for you.
