11 players from 2022 FIFA World Cup team left off Canada's roster

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is almost here, and Canada’s men’s national team head coach Jesse Marsch and his staff are putting the final touches on the roster before the tournament kicks off on June 12.
On Monday, Canada named its 32-man roster, which will report to Charlotte, N.C., for the team’s pre-camp from May 25 to 29. Eleven active players in total from Canada’s 2022 FIFA World Cup team have been left off the list.
Among those excluded were 38-year-old goalkeeper Milan Borjan, who started all three group stage games for Canada in Qatar, and backup goalkeeper James Pantemis. Three defenders from the 2022 squad were also left off: Kamal Miller, Samuel Piette, and Sam Adekugbe.
Midfielders Mark-Anthony Kaye, David Wotherspoon, and Liam Fraser, plus forwards Junior Hoilett, Iké Ugbo, and Lucas Cavallini, are among the remaining omissions.
