Canada is one of the best places in the world to be a woman.

This is according to the latest study conducted by US News & World Report in partnership with BAV Group and Wharton. The report offers insight on 73 countries’ overall scores based 65 attributes divided into nine subrankings.

The best countries for women ranking was based on the following factors:

  • How much the country cares about human rights
  • Gender equality
  • Income equality
  • Progress and safety

According to the report, Canada was recognized for its strong record for gender equality.  However, the report notes that “slow progress has been made in closing the pay equality gap.”

The report notes that out of 149 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2018, Canada ranked 16th. This report focuses on the relative gaps between women and men across health, education, economy, and politics.

Canada also ranked as the second best country in the world.
