Calgary’s strong and growing dining scene is getting another nod on the national scene today, with the release of the 2016 Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list.

A total of eight Calgary restaurants made the list this year, with the highest-ranking being Pigeonhole, cracking the top 20 at slot 16.

Canada’s 100 Best is a publication that “aims to be indispensable to anyone genuinely interested in dining out in this country in an informed way,” explains Editor-in-Chief Jacob Richler.

The rankings are determined by a combination of expert and informed opinions from not only Canada’s restaurant critics, but well-traveled and food-savvy diners, as well as industry insiders.

Some significant players on the restaurant scene are among the others representing Calgary on this particular list; it’s not surprising to see spots like Model Milk, Charbar, and Rouge getting honours.

Last year, Calgary was well-represented, with Model Milk earning a respectable 12th place, and other favourites like Charcut (31), Rouge (37), and River Café (40) cracking the upper half.

Here are all eight of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants in Calgary, with their ranks:

  • No. 16: Pigeonhole
  • No. 18: Model Milk
  • No. 39: Charbar
  • No. 52: Rouge
  • No. 59: Charcut
  • No. 67: River Café
  • No. 78: Anju
  • No. 82: No.table

Toronto, not surprisingly, dominates the top ten, though it’s Montreal’s Toqué! that takes first place.
