Woman dead after collision with a cyclist on Calgary pathway

A woman in her 50s has died after a 12-year-old on a bicycle collided with her while she was on a pathway.

The Calgary Police Services (CPS) stated that the incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 2, just before 4 p.m. while the woman and her husband were on a walk north of Hidden Valley Drive.

The cyclist collided with the woman from behind, causing her to fall down and sustain serious injuries. She was transported to the hospital in a life-threatening condition and has since succumbed to her injuries.

Police were not notified at the time of the incident and did not go to the scene but have since launched an investigation.

Officials do not believe speed or impairment were factors of the collision.
