
While the warm weather in Calgary has been nice, it’s just about time to break out your winter gear again, with a 32-degree temperature dip on the way.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) predicts that cold weather is in our future, with the temperature set to hit overnight lows of almost -20°C next week.
Thursday’s high of 13°C is the warmest temperature we will see this week before dropping to an overnight low of -3°C. The decline continues into Friday with the daytime high hitting 7°C, and dropping to a chilly -5°C at night.
Rolling into the weekend, Saturday is showing a daytime high of just 1°C and an overnight low of -7°C. Sunday warms up a bit with a daytime high of 4°C, but it doesn’t last, dropping to -9°C at night.
Monday brings a real chill with daytime highs of 0°C, and an overnight low of -12°C with periods of snow. Tuesday is going to be a cold one, bringing more periods of snow and a daytime high of -10°C, followed by an overnight low of -19°C, a staggering 32-degree temperature change from Thursday’s high of 13°C.

The cold looks to continue through the week, with Wednesday seeing a daytime high of just -15°C and a chance of flurries.
According to ECCC, the average high for Calgary around this time is zero, and the average low is -12°C.
Calgary isn’t the only area set to see a cold temperature invasion; the rest of the province is set to see some chilly weather over the coming weeks.
