It's going to feel like -27°C in Calgary this weekend

It’s safe to say that Calgary has been treated to quite a mild winter this year, but it looks like that’s coming to an end this weekend, with much colder weather headed our way.

According to The Weather Network, temperatures stay reasonably warm throughout the week, lowering briefly on Wednesday before coming back up to a high of 2°C on Thursday, and then dropping dramatically just in time for the weekend.

The forecast calls for a low of -27°C overnight on Friday, accompanied by flurries.

After the week’s low on Friday night, things barely warm up over the rest of the weekend.

Saturday will see a high of -17°C, going down to -22°C overnight, and Sunday will be a balmy -10°C — although it will feel like -14°C.

Winter must’ve thought Calgarians were getting a little too comfortable (slipping into lighter jackets and more fashionable boots, and even being able to get outside and ride bikes), and decided to send some frosty weather our way to remind us that, despite the sunny skies and positive temps, we are still in the middle of winter.

The bright side is that there isn’t any major snowfall predicted this weekend, just a few scattered flurries bringing 1 to 3 cm of the white fluffy stuff on Friday and Sunday, and less than 1 cm on Saturday.

Here’s hoping things warm up again next week!
