It’s shaping up to be a bit of a weather roller coaster here in Calgary this week, with some big swings in temperature on the way.

According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the freezing daytime high temperatures have left the city; however, keep those winter jackets nearby.Ā

Calgary is forecast to see a bit of a messy weather mixture today, with a chance of rain showers or flurries and a high of 5°C. Temperatures then drop tonight, with a low of -15°C.

The rest of the work week is looking pretty nice for the most part, with a high of 2°C on Tuesday and a high of 7°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Things take a turn Thursday evening, with the overnight low dropping to -12°C with rain showers or flurries on tap. The cold snap continues for Friday, with a daytime high of -12°C and an overnight low of -19°C, with snow during the day and a chance of flurries at night.

When you do the math, between the daytime high on Thursday and the evening low for Friday, Calgary is set to see a temperature change of 26 degrees.

Saturday will remain well below the average high for this time of year at -8°C, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Sunday, March 1, is forecast to reach zero.

According to ECCC, the average high temperature for Calgary around this time is 1°C, and the average low is -10°C.
