Life for everyday commuters is about to get a little less crowded as Calgary Transit announced that their four-car CTrain service is in regular service effective immediately instead of the intended launch in December.

Capacity per trip of the four-car CTrain service on the 201 Red Line, also known as the Tuscany-Somerset line, which is estimated to be twice as busy as the Blue Line; will carry up to an additional 200 commuters.

With the implementation of the new service, Calgary Transit states that they will have the capacity to carry over 800 commuters per trip – take that rush hour.

Looking into next year, Calgary Transit plans to expand the four-car service with the help of 63 new cars on order, 28 of which will be replacements for the older U2 models.
