Calgary Tower lights Olympic flame to honour Spruce Meadow founder, Ron Southern

Dec 19 2017, 11:03 am

On Thursday evening the Calgary Tower’s Olympic flame was turned on in honor the passing of ATCO and Spruce Meadow founder Ron Southern. Southern had passed away last week at the age of 85.

The tower was burning from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and its LED lights glowed red for all to see. In addition to the Calgary Tower being lit up red, The Langevin Bridge, Olympic Plaza, Arts Commons, and Stephen Avenue Galleria Trees also were lit in Southern’s honour.

Family of Ron Southern requested red as it’s a colour that signifies his patriotic spirit.
