Calgary couple creates real life Simpsons kitchen, gets shout out on show

Calgary couple Marcia Andreychuk and Joel Hamilton have gone to the extreme to show their love for The Simpsons and have renovated their entire kitchen to look almost identical to that of the show’s.

With colourful cupboards, a green stove, and the classic corncob curtains covering the kitchen sink window, the kitchen comes pretty close to the real deal – and it’s functional too.

Here’s what Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) tweeted:

News traveled far about the couple’s newly renovated kitchen, which took them one year to build, as well as their love for the long-running series. The show’s producers must have caught wind because in their ninth episode of season 27, “Barthood,” they subtly added in the couple’s names.

The addition was so subtle that the first time the couple watched the episode, on December 13, they didn’t pick up on the hint, according to CBC News. But when Andreychuk re-watched the episode later, she heard them.

In the episode, Bart and Homer are watching hockey on TV, and during the game the announcer calls out the couple’s names.

Later on, Al Jean, executive producer of the series, confirmed on Twitter that the hockey players in the Barthood episode were in fact named after the Calgary couple.

Needless to say the couple was thrilled.
