The Calgary Stampede will be adding even more to what is already known for being a wildly fun 10-day event.

Whether it’s watching the rodeo, hitting up the rides, seeing live music, or attending several of the tents set up across the city, the Stampede is something that Calgarians and many others from around the world look forward to celebrating each and every year. Those who enjoy live sports, and in particular, basketball, will have a whole new element to be excited about at this year’s event.

The Calgary Surge have announced that on Wednesday, July 9, they will be playing a game at the Saddledome versus the Montreal Alliance.

Tickets for the game will go on sale beginning Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. MDT. Lower bowl tickets will be priced at $45, while the upper bowl will be going for $35. These tickets also include admission into the Stampede grounds, which costs $25 for those aged between 13-64.

This will mark the Surge’s second time playing at the Saddledome. The first came last May, when roughly 12,000 fans packed into the building to watch their hometown CEBL team in action. Surge vice president and chairman Jason Ribeiro confirmed to Daily Hive a short time later that the organization would be looking to do similar events going forward, and today’s news backs that up.

“The reverence we have for the Calgary Stampede and its ability to create community runs deep, so to be partnering this early in our journey is a milestone moment for our company,” Ribeiro said on Thursday. “With SURGE 2 THE DOME, SURGE 2 RED DEER, and now SURGE 2 STAMPEDE, our feet are firmly planted as live event operators, and we look forward to bringing even more communities together around sports, arts and culture.”

The Surge, who are set to enter their third season in the CEBL, finished third in the Western Conference in 2024 with a record of 11-9.
