6 can't-miss festivals happening in Calgary this summer

What time is it? Summertime! And whether you’re on vacation, out of school, or squeezing in some fun between shifts, there’s no shortage of epic events happening in Calgary.

With over 200 festivals and events happening downtown and an expected 5.8 million travellers coming through the airport, it’s shaping up to be one sizzling summer in YYC.

To make it easier for Calgarians and visitors alike to stay in the know and make the most of the warm months, the City of Calgary has launched an online tool that lets users search for events based on interests, dates, and filters.

Don’t know where to begin? Here are six events and festivals worth putting on your radar this summer.

Inglewood Night Market 

This fan-favourite modern market is back for its 2025 iteration. On select evenings, you can browse the goods of locally-sourced vendors selling crafts, vintage clothing, collectibles, artisan eats, and more.

When: July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 5, and Sept. 12.
Where: 10th Ave. S.E. & 10th St. S.E.
Cost: Free

Fiestaval — Calgary Latin Festival 

When Stampede ends, Fiestaval begins! The weekend festival has over 30 authentic food vendors, hundreds of national and international performers, an artisan market, a kids’ area, beer gardens, and more. Gather your friends and family, and enjoy the fiesta!

When: Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20
Where: Eau Claire Plaza — 3rd St. & Riverfront Avenue S.W.
Cost: Free

The Sidewalk Series 

Summer on 17th is back, and they’re introducing a brand new component to the lineup. On select dates, you can find local talent playing outdoor sets in intimate settings with limited spots. It’s the perfect way to spend a lazy summer evening.

When: July 23 & 29, Aug. 7, 22, & 27, and Sept. 4 & 17
Where: Various locations on 17th Ave. S.W.

Calgary Folk Music Festival

If you didn’t quite get your live music fix at Stampede, then the Calgary Folk Music Festival is the place to be. 70 artists are slated to perform across four days in the beautiful Prince’s Island Park, with headliners including Cake, Ocie Elliott, Ruby Waters, and more.

When: Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27

Taste of Calgary

It’s no secret that Calgary has a rich culinary scene, and at this food festival, you can sample a little bit of everything. A unique mix of restaurants and beverage companies will be serving up samples all weekend long.

When: Thursday, July 31 to Monday, Aug. 4
Where: Calgary Parking Lot #6, 311 8th St. S.W.
Cost: $1 per sample ticket

Historic Stephen Avenue Guided Walking Tours

Learn about the historic landmarks, architectural gems, and iconic stories that have shaped Stephen Avenue and beyond. Tours are about 1.5 hours in duration, so be sure to wear good walking shoes!

When: Every Thursday and Friday until Aug. 15
Where: Starts at the Calgary Tower — 101 9th Ave. S.W.
