Winter came a little early to Calgary.
It first hit at the tail end of September, bringing with it a record-breaking 24 cm of snowfall — though things actually cleared up after that.
The sun came out, the weather got warmer, and within a week, all that September snow had melted away… but we all knew it was never going to be that easy.
The city of Calgary — and a few dozen other regions throughout southern Alberta — has just been hit by another unseasonable snowfall, this time with about 10 cm expected to fall on the city and upwards of 25 cm for regions at higher elevations.

Meanwhile, the rest of Canada appears to be sitting quite comfortable, enjoying a crisp fall day and, in most places, sunny skies.
Just take a look at Environment Canada’s cross-Canada weather map to see just how much of an outlier Alberta currently is — even Iqaluit is warmer than Calgary, with a high of 6°C.
