7 Calgary runs happening in May

Outdoor running season is upon us in Calgary, and for that we’ve compiled a list of runs and walks that are happening around town in May.

From casual strolls to Boston Marathon qualifiers, May has a run for everyone. Here are 7 Calgary runs taking place in May.

Walk so Kids Can Talk

A 5km walk that you can register for as an individual or a team of heroes with family, friends or co-workers.

When: Sunday, May 1

Darkness Into Light

An annual international fundraiser held by Ireland based Pieta House to raise the much-needed funds for mental health awareness and suicide prevention in the city and around the world.

When: Saturday, May 7

St. Patrick’s Island Fun Run

Ring in the summer with a Hawaiian themed four kilometre run and walk to East Villages’ newest addition, St Patrick’s Island.

When: Saturday, May 7

Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run and Walk

Start and finish at Chinook Centre and choose between a 5 km route (5.3594 km) and a 10 km route for the Run, Walk & Ride event.

When: Sunday, May 8

MEC race series

The third MEC Race of 2016 takes place at the Glenmore Reservoir. Choose between 5km, 10km, or 21.1km race routes.

When: Saturday, May 14

Woman2Warrior

The event is held at SAIT and Riley Park. The Woman2Warrior course is non-timed and covers approximately 4.5 km of trails and terrain.  It will incorporate obstacles (challenges) to test your strength, agility, balance and sense of adventure.

Calgary Marathon

Racers can sign up for 6 different run throughout the day. The 50KM Ultra, Scotiabank 42.2KM, Centaur Subaru 21.1KM, Jugo Juice 10K, GoodLife Fitness 5K Family Walk & Run and Scotiabank Kids Marathon.
