
Calgary just made an appearance on a global ranking of the richest cities, landing among the top 200 spots.
CEOWORLD magazine unveiled its ranking of the world’s richest cities for 2025, and Calgary landed in the 159th spot.
The publication examined the 300 richest cities globally. The report looks at the gross domestic product (GDP) of cities across the world in USD, and Calgary’s currently sits at $321.85 million.

Only six Canadian cities managed to claim a spot on the list. Toronto and Montreal both cracked the top 100; Toronto took the 22nd spot on the list with a GDP of $917.49 million, and Montreal placed 76th with a GDP of $55.36 million. Vancouver, Edmonton, and Ottawa also made the list.
At the global level, Tokyo took the top spot on the list with a GDP of $2.55 trillion, followed by New York and Greater Los Angeles, which had GDPs of $2.49 trillion and $1.62 trillion, respectively.
“These 300 metropolitan titans—from Paris and Seoul to Shanghai and Singapore—represent the beating heart of global commerce, accounting for a substantial share of worldwide GDP. They are not just cities; they are economic ecosystems shaping how money moves, technology evolves, and policy decisions ripple through the market,” the report states.
Other major cities in the top 10 were London, Seoul, Paris, Chicago, Osaka, San Francisco, and Shanghai.
