Calgary Poutine Week 2016: Eat poutine with a purpose!

Dec 19 2017, 11:18 am

Canada’s national food treasure gets a full week in the spotlight in YYC, thanks to the annual Calgary Poutine Week, where fans of the french fry treat get seven days of greasy, gravy-loaded indulgence, all for a great cause.

From April 15 to 23 this year, the 40 participating restaurants will be dishing up their unique poutine creations. Venues range from four wheels, like Perogy Boyz Food Truck and their Pierogi Poutine, to Anju’s Korean-inspired Poutine for Your Seoul, to your favourite burger joint classics, like the poutine at Clive Burger.

There’s crab poutine, Pad Thai poutine, taco poutine, lamb poutine. Toppings are piled on anything from yam fries to tater tots (and few exciting options in between!). You can even wake up to poutine inspiration, with breakfast poutines.

Wherever you head during these delicious days, your poutine purchase is for a great cause: Every poutine sold during #PoutineWeekYYC in any of the participating restaurants provides a free meal to someone in need thanks to Calgary Poutine Week’s partner, local non profit Mealshare. They’re calling it “Poutine with purpose.”

Go forth and eat poutine, Calgarians!
