Concert Preview: Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra performs Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit and Friends

Dec 19 2017, 11:11 am

Beatrix Potter’s stories of Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and all of their countryside friends have delighted children for generations. The beloved tales will come to life through songs and narration at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra performance of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit and Friends on March 13.

Award-winning English soprano Michelle Todd will be singing and storytelling alongside CPO associate conductor, Adam Johnson.

Recommended for ages four to 12 (or for anyone who loves Beatrix Potter), the production will also feature an Instrument Petting Zoo an hour prior to the show, where children can meet the musicians and play with real musical instruments, as well as pre-concert entertainment from New Orleans-style jazz band, the Dixie Knights.

The concert, which is held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, is part of the CPO’s Symphony Sundays For Kids — a series that aims to introduce children to classical music in both a fun and inspiring way.
