Watch the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra perform 'Ghostbusters in concert' this month

Oct 8 2019, 7:32 pm

The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is doing the spooky season right.

This October, the CPO will be hosting two shows paying tribute to the 1984 classic, Ghostbusters, by performing the original movie’s score alongside a live viewing of the film.

The events will be held on October 25 and 26 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, which is perfect timing for those hoping to get in the mood for Halloween.

This is the first time that the Grammy-nominated soundtrack has been reconstructed for the purpose of a live performance — an effort make with the help of Peter M. Bernstein, the son of original composer Elmer Bernstein.

The Friday concert will be concluded by a full-blown Halloween party to celebrate all things paranormal, and attendees to both the concert and party are more than encouraged to arrive in costume.

Friday’s event will run from 7:30 to 10 pm, while Saturday’s will feature a visit from the Calgary Ghostbusters to kick things off before the concert. The pre-concert, family-friendly fun begins at 1:30 while the concert and screening will take place from 2 to 4:30 pm.

Costumes are definitely welcome for the Saturday matinee, as well!
