Cineplex has just reopened three of its theatres in Calgary.

A release from the company states that doors have been reopened at Cineplex Odeon Crowfoot Crossing Cinemas, Cineplex Odeon Sunridge Spectrum Cinemas, and Cineplex Cinemas Seton and VIP as of Friday, June 26, along with three theatres in Edmonton.

Alberta’s remaining 13 Cineplex locations will also be opened come July 3, the release states.

“The past three months have given us a new appreciation for the importance of friends and family and the power of shared experiences with those we love,” said Ellis Jacob, president and CEO of Cineplex, in the release.

“Entertaining is what we do best, and we simply can’t wait to safely welcome guests back to our theatres and The Rec Room for some much-deserved entertainment, fun, and escape.”

Those hoping to catch a flick will be able to do so on the cheap, as the company is offering $5 tickets for showings like Bloodshot, The Invisible Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, Jumanji: The Next Level, Bad Boys for Life, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, The Way Back, and I Still Believe.

New safety protocols have been put into place in the face of the enduring threat of COVID-19, including increased sanitization, reserved seating for all auditoriums, reduced capacity, no cash payments, limited food offerings, and personal protective equipment supplied for all staff.

Tickets and showtimes can be found at Cineplex’s website.
