Hockey and wresting will collide this November at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Calgary Hitmen plan to honour their namesake, Calgary’s own wrestling superstar Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart, with a Bret the Hitman Hart Night on November 2 when they host the Saskatoon Blades.
The game will feature the chance to get a photo with the legend, with all proceeds going towards the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre — an organization that Hart has been a committed supporter of for many years.

“It means so much to me that the Calgary Hitmen have chosen to honour me and also help raise awareness for a cause I care very deeply about,” said Hart in the release.
“I’ve always had a very enjoyable relationship with all the people I’ve worked at the Hitmen. I found from the very beginning that hockey people are good people in all respects and upon selling the team, my biggest concern was the fear of losing that. My love and respect for the team, the Flames management, and especially the fans has only grown tenfold in the last 25 years. I still remember how it was said that Junior hockey would never survive in an NHL city.
“Boy were they wrong.”
Tickets to the night’s event are available for $15, with $5 from all ticket sales going towards the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre.
That ticket will actually get would-be attendees a little more than just a hockey game, as the Prairie Wrestling Alliance has agreed to host a free wrestling card following the Hitmen’s game.
A wrestling ring will be brought out onto the ice where a four match of PWA wrestlers will go at it in honour of Hart.
“On behalf of everyone at PWA, we are extremely proud to team up with the Calgary Hitmen to present ‘Battle in the Dome’ and are excited to be the first independent wrestling promotion to ever perform in the historic Scotiabank Saddledome,” said Kurt Sorochan, co-owner and promoter of PWA Wrestling, in the release.
“For almost 19 years, the Prairie Wrestling Alliance has been carrying on the tradition of professional wrestling with passion and respect that our predecessors, the Hart Family, did with Stampede Wrestling.”
