Calgary has seen a snowy temperature drop this week, but we are nearing the end of this baby cold snap with a huge temperature change on the way.
Our daytime highs and overnight lows may have been all over the place lately, but looking at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, it seems like we are on the cusp of a big weather shake-up.
Before we dive into what balmy temperatures are coming our way, we just have to make it through the weekend. Hang in there!
As of 9 a.m. today, Calgary is seeing some light snow at -11°C and is set to reach a daytime high of -2°C, with an overnight low of -9°C.
As we approach the weekend, the overnight low tomorrow is forecast to sit at -7°C, with the daytime high below normal for this time of year.
Sunday and Monday’s daytime high is above normal at 6°C before a dip to more average territory on Tuesday, but things really start to heat up as we approach the middle of next week.
Once we arrive at Wednesday, the warmth set to invade our city starts to make its presence known with a daytime high of 9°C, and Thursday looks even better, holding a daytime high of 13°C.
When you do the math between the current temperature of -11°C and Thursday’s daytime high, it’s a roller coaster with a temperature change of 24 degrees. Fingers crossed that the warmer temperatures stick around and we are done with brisk cold snaps as we inch closer towards the official start to spring!
