If you have been itching to get that base tan down before summer arrives in Calgary, the upcoming weather will be music to your ears.
After a week of occasional showers and less than dazzling daytime highs, a big temperature swing is on the way for Calgary, and it’s the type of weather that you’ll want to fire up the BBQ and enjoy plenty of time outdoors.
According to the seven-day forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary is in store for a high of just 18°C and a brisk overnight low of 6°C, but a lovely weekend is on the way with plenty of sunshine, and Sunday is set to reach a high of 26°C.
As we roll through the upcoming workweek, temperatures really start to rise, with the forecast hinting at a gorgeous 31°C on Thursday.
When you do the math between the overnight low of 6°C tonight and Thursday’s daytime high, it’s a temperature change of 25 degrees.

The ECCC states that the average high for this time of year in Calgary is 18°C, while the average low is 5°C.
As for advice for Albertans as we slide into this warm spell, Daily Hive chatted with ECCC earlier this week and got the scoop on the incoming warmth.
One ECCC meteorologist stressed that as temperatures make a run at the 30°C mark and beyond, it’s important to stay hydrated and lather on the sunscreen.
“Make sure you’re in tune with how you’re feeling, if you start feeling warm, or if you have an underlying health condition. Those who are pregnant and others, elderly and young people, they need to maybe take some adequate precautions for potential heat issues.”
