Calgary might see a brown Christmas with a wild 26-degree temp change on the way
If you have looked outside lately, you can tell there is not much snow blanketing Calgary, and with a wild temperature change in the forecast, we might be in store for a brown Christmas.
The current Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast for Calgary is calling for a serious temperature swing over the coming days.
Calgary is set to see daytime highs above zero today and Saturday before cooler temperatures move in, with a daytime high of -1ºC in the forecast for Sunday and bottoming out at -6ºC on Monday.
The warmup arrives come the middle of next week, with the daytime high for Tuesday sitting at -3ºC before Wednesday shines with a high of 13ºC, just one week before Christmas Day.
When you do the math between the overnight low on Monday and the daytime high on Wednesday, that’s a whopping 26-degree difference. If any snow does fall over the next few days, it’s really going to melt next week!
If snow fails to appear after next week, Calgary very well might be in for a brown Christmas– we guess only time will tell, but it sure is getting close.

According to ECCC, the normal temperatures for Calgary at this time of year are a high of -1ºC and a low of -13ºC.
