It’s going to be a cold Thanksgiving long weekend in Calgary, and the forecast is calling for a significant drop in temperatures before a warm-up arrives.
According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Calgary is above average for today, Oct. 10; however, the thermometer takes a dip as we move through the long weekend.
Calgary is forecast to reach a sunny high of 19°C today, with an overnight low of 11°C, which is well above average for both.
The daytime high on Saturday is above average at 16°C, before dropping to -2°C, with rain during the day and rain or snow overnight.
Temperatures continue their downward trend on Sunday, with plenty of cloud cover and a high of -1°C and an overnight low of -6°C.
When you do the math between today’s daytime high and the low on Sunday, it’s a temperature change of 25 degrees. It’s time to get your furnace working a little harder over the weekend!
It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Warmer temperatures appear to be making a comeback as we move through next week, with Wednesday and Tuesday expected to reach 18°C and 19°C, respectively.
