The Calgary Flames and Connor Zary’s stalemate appears to be over.
As reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Zary and the Flames are close to signing a three-year deal worth “just under” $3.8 million per season.

A three-year deal being in the works was reported earlier this week by The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta.
There had been reports earlier in the offseason that the player’s camp was gunning for a long-term contract, while the Flames were hoping to work out a bridge deal given the injuries Zary sustained this past season.
“It’s been slow,” Flames general manager Craig Conroy admitted earlier this summer. “I understand they have a position that they’ve taken, and we kind of have a position we’re at. We know it’s going to get done. In the end, it always does. They’d probably like it to be done today, we’d like it to be done today. Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer. We’ve still got a lot of time in the summer.
Zary was an RFA this summer and is coming off his second season in the NHL.
A 2020 draft pick by the Flames, the 23-year-old forward is considered a massive piece for this rebuilding Flames team.
He managed to appear in 54 NHL games last season, scoring 13 goals and 27 points. Zary’s rookie season was his best to date, finding the back of the net 14 times and picking up 34 points.
