The Calgary Flames had some fun with Adam Klapka following his massive performance last night against the Colorado Avalanche.
The six-foot-eight winger hasn’t been known to provide much offence during his short NHL career but showed up for his team when the stakes were at their highest last night, registering a goal and an assist in the late-game comeback.

It marked the first multi-point outing of Klapka’s career and, to no surprise, earned him the first star of the game. It also resulted in him taking some playful punishment from his teammate MacKenzie Weegar.
Following the game, Klapka was speaking with reporters about his big performance. Before the scrum came to an end, Weegar popped on the screen to cover his teammate’s face in shaving cream, much to the enjoyment of several teammates in the background.

As it turns out, this wasn’t the 24-year-old’s first time receiving the shaving cream treatment during his professional career.
“When I scored a hat trick in the AHL, they [did] it to me,” said a grinning Klapka. “They did the same thing.”
Klapka’s teammates weren’t the only ones who were happy to see him come through in the clutch, either. Head coach Ryan Huska offered up some glowing praise for the Czech forward and his linemates, Kevin Rooney and Ryan Lomberg.
“I thought that line was excellent. I talked about Colorado’s speed being on top of us fairly quickly, but that line can skate,” Huska said. “I thought they did a good job for us of creating with their speed, and [they] were able to get on the scoreboard with two quick goals.”
The Flames hopes for a playoff spot remain alive thanks to the 3-2 shootout victory, as they now sit five points shy of the St. Louis Blues with two games in hand. They’ll be right back in action this evening against the Utah Hockey Club.
