Interior of Calgary Flames' future home coming together in latest Scotia Place update

There are just 38 more Calgary Flames games to be played at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

That’s an exciting yet somewhat jarring number, as it truly puts into perspective just how soon the Flames will start playing out of Scotia Place.

Construction on the Flames’ new arena began in the summer of 2024 and has been rapidly progressing since. Rather than simply putting up the exterior of the building, construction crews are now getting to work on the finer details inside the arena, several of which were featured in a new update provided on Monday morning.

The final few pieces of the roof have been put in place, meaning that Scotia Place is now fully enclosed for the first time. The exterior walls now wrap a full 360 degrees around the building.

As if that weren’t exciting enough on its own, the new building is also seeing plenty of progress with seating. The first few sections of the lower bowl are well underway to being complete, while all 28 rows are slowly beginning to take shape.

Meanwhile, drywall has been installed in the Flames’ team store, while the ESSO community arena is nearly 50 per cent enclosed. This arena will serve as the practice facility for the Flames moving forward.

As both the interior and exterior videos show, there is still plenty of work to be done before this building is ready to rock. That said, it isn’t all that far away until it is complete.

The Flames are set to move into Scotia Place for the 2027-28 season, which will begin a new era for the organization. As exciting as it is, however, it will also be somewhat bittersweet given that the Saddledome is set to be demolished.

Flames fans who haven’t yet had the chance to see a game at the Saddledome this season will want to begin looking for tickets sooner rather than later, as their final game at the iconic building will be played on April 10 against the Vancouver Canucks.
