The Calgary Fire Department is now offering drive-by birthdays for Calgarians ages four to 12 and those 75+ in an effort to bring some cheer while respecting physical distancing.
If the department is not involved in an emergency, they will come to your residence around 2 pm with all the lights and sirens befitting a birthday celebration.
“This idea came from our members and the Calgary Firefighters’ Association, and they have been a driving force in getting this program launched,” said Calgary Fire Department Chief Steve Dongworth in a press release.

“We are living in a difficult time, and if the Calgary Fire Department can help in a small way by bringing a smile to the face of birthday celebrants — both young and old — then we are happy to do so.”
Residents can schedule a drive-by birthday by calling 3-1-1 or by filling out a form here. The department asks that you try to schedule ahead as much as possible, so they can do their best to ensure a bright birthday surprise.
