September is about to get a lot more magical in Calgary with a brand-new festival rolling into the city, featuring thousands of lights, a corn maze, and a glowing hot air balloon display.
The Calgary Farmyard is hosting its first-ever Hot Air Balloon Glow mixed with its annual Harvest Lights Festival. It’s taking place on Sept. 18 and 19, giving visitors a chance to explore the farm after dark while taking in some spectacular sights.
The hot air balloon portion of each evening is presented by the Calgary Balloon Club (CBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of hot air ballooning as a recreational sport, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

Both nights will feature more than 40 attractions, including giant slides, a petting farm, mini golf, jumping pillows, pig races, live music, and more. A hot air balloon-themed corn maze is also on site, which stays open in the dark for a spooky but exciting flashlight challenge.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet with balloon operators and learn about the fun sport of ballooning. The hot air balloons are weather-dependent, and in the event they are unable to be inflated, a “Candlestick Glow” Basket and Burner demonstration will be held in their place.
