Calgary Folk Music Festival 2019

What: The 2019 Calgary Folk Music Festival takes over Prince’s Island Park ablaze with lyrically lush folk music from headlining performers including Belle & Sebastian, Half Moon Run, The Strumbellas, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and over 60 other artists. Plus attendees can expect some drool-worthy food and drinks at this annual event.

Pet-A-Palooza Calgary

The Strumbellas

What: The six-piece collective rocketed to mainstream success with their breakthrough hit “Spirits, which hit number one on Billboard’s Alternative Chart, won a 2017 Juno for Single of the Year and cracked the Top Ten in Europe. They perform as part of the Calgary Folk Music Festival on July 28.

Wings Over Springbank Airshow

What: The thunderous roar of formation-flying jets screaming across the Springbank sky will officially return this summer. The Canadian Forces’ Snowbirds, a nine-plane demonstration team, will mark their fourth appearance at the Wings Over Springbank Airshow. Also featuring the F18 Demo Team, Brent Handy, Erickson Aircraft Collection, and Team Rocket.

Historic Calgary Week: A New Star in our Planetarium

What: Join Contemporary Calgary for a tour of the iconic Centennial Planetarium. Participants will learn about the history of this architectural landmark and future plans to transform the space into a world-class destination for modern and contemporary art.

Lions Club of Bearspaw Farmers’ Market

What: Check out over 120 vendors at Lions Club of Bearspaw Farmers’ Market. During the market, a caterer inside the Lions Hall provides breakfast and brunch/lunch from about 9 am to 2 pm.  Several of the outside food vendors also sell food you can eat at the market.

Kensington. Presented by Original Joe’s in partnership with over 13 local breweries, Sun N’ Cerveza features seven different bars and restaurants offering samples, prizes, live music and DJs. Then head to the Side Street Pub with prizes, live entertainment, DJs and more craft beer.

First Time in Drag – In support of the Calgary AIDS Walk & Run

What: The Social Lubricants present First Time in Drag a fundraiser for the Calgary AIDS Walk & Run. featuring a silent auction, music, and drag performers from HIV Community Link and friends. Donations for the team and tips received by performers will support the AIDS Walk & Run coming up in September.

Canadian Heroes at Calaway Park
