PetSmart National Pet Adoption Weekend
What: From November 8 to 10, hundreds of Canadian animal welfare organizations will bring adorable, adoptable pets, including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, guinea pigs, and rabbits into nearly every one of PetSmart’s 140 stores across the country. Regardless of which type of pet you choose to adopt, or where you adopted from, all new pet owners will receive a free adoption kit that provides important content that helps to integrate a new pet into the family.

Jann Arden
What: The much-celebrated artist catapulted onto the Canadian music scene in 1993 with her debut album “Time for Mercy”, featuring the hit single “I Would Die for You”. Just one year later with “Living Under June”, she had her career breakout hit, “Insensitive”, that solidified her position in the music world. Her most recent album “These Are the Days” hit the shelves in March of 2018, and she also starred in the CTV sitcom, Jann.

Wordfest presents Ken Dryden
What: Montreal Canadian legend Ken Dryden has partnered with legendary coach Scotty Bowmen for their new book, Scotty: A Hockey Life Like No Other. The event features an interview with Ken Dryden followed by a Q&A and book signing.

Field of Crosses
What: At sunrise each morning from November 1 to November 11, members of the public are invited to attend a formal flag raising ceremony at the Field of Crosses, where over 3,400 white crosses are displayed each year on November 1 and removed November 12. Each cross is inscribed with the name, rank, regiment, date of death and age at death of a Southern Alberta soldier killed in action. A special Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on November 11.

Monthly Open House at AVRO Museum

Canadian Pacific – Ceremony
The annual ceremony will take place at the Ogden Memorial and it’s open to the public. Canadian Pacific will pay tribute to more than 33,000 employees who served in the last century’s wars. Every CP locomotive will sound its whistle at 11:01 am to start a moment of silence.

The annual ceremony will be held outdoors if weather permitting, and it’s recommended to arrive early and dress warmly. Non-perishable food donations to the Veterans Food Bank will be accepted and the museum will keep its doors open after the ceremony with admission by donation until 4 pm.
