What: The 33rd annual High River Santa Claus Parade features the George Lane Park light up, live performances on the Stampede Stage, carolling, photos with Santa, and more.

What’s up with Bow Habitat Station

What: Explore Alberta’s wildlife and natural spaces on the first Friday of the month. Visit investigation stations in the Discovery Centre, then join the group activity with special guests from Alberta Parks at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, or 2:30 pm and discover how wildlife has adapted to city life. Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society will also be hosting an investigation station about furry and feathered friends found in the city. Note: Hands-on activities are designed for learners two-years and up.

Market Collective Holiday Markets

What: Market Collective Holiday Markets at BMO Centre features over 150 vendors, plus workshops, live music, food and beverages, and more to enjoy.

Handel’s Messiah

What: Grammy award-winner Jeannette Sorrell, artistic director and harpsichordist of acclaimed ensemble Apollo’s Fire, conducts Handel’s Messiah alongside Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and hand-picked soloists from her ensemble. Bring a non-perishable food donation for the Calgary Food Bank.

Holiday Skate Pop-Up Roller Rink at New Horizon Mall

What: New Horizon Mall, Calgary Roller Skate and Alien In-Line present an afternoon of skating on December 7. The whole family is invited to groove to some great tunes under a disco ball, and glide over 10,000 sq. ft. of skating space. Admission is free, and guests can bring their own skates or rent a pair of quad or inline skates for $10. Bring donations for the Airdrie Food Bank and receive free stickers. Note that signed waivers will be required to skate

East Village Tree Lot, brought to you by 31st Scouts

What: An urban Christmas tree lot is popping up in East Village! The 31st St. Cyprian’s Scout Group is bringing their annual tree lot to EV for one day only on December 7th. Invite friends or family to come search for the perfect tree.

There will be a holiday selfie station, fire pit, and free hot chocolate or apple cider for guests to enjoy. Both apartment-sized and full-sized trees will be available, but be sure to have cash on hand.

Pre-Christmas lulupalooza 2019

What: Put on by local consigner Jeans Addition, the Pre-Christmas LULUPALOOZA consignment event will be held on December 7, giving Calgarians the chance to pick up a few gently-used bargains and to potentially made a few dollars from their own lululemon outfits. The event will be held from 10 am to 5 pm, though it is noted that only cash will be accepted.

According to the event’s Facebook page, thousands of items will be up for grabs, from jackets to bras and everything in between. Past sales have seen items go for less than half retail value at around $20 to $45, while some specialty items (such as jackets) are sold at around $75.

Cineplex Community Day

What: Cineplex wants you to treat yourself to a free movie day on December 7. For the ninth consecutive year, Cineplex Community Day will treat guests to a selection of popular movies. All proceeds from donations and select concession sales will go toward supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Popcorn, drinks, and select candy will be available to purchase at $2.50, a reduced price. Film this year include: A Christmas Story, Elf, Gremlins, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and The Polar Express.

Keep ’em Rolling Roller Nights

What: Keep ’em Rolling hosts roller skate nights at Hounsfield/Briar Hill Community Hall, featuring skate music provided by DJ Plasma. All skates must have toe stops or jam plugs to prevent damage to the floor.

2019 Santa Shuffle

What: A festive-focused fun run to help the less fortunate in the community. The 2019 Santa Shuffle features a 5 km fun run and 1 km Elf Walk. The coast-to-coast event raises money for the Salvation Army. Each runner will also receive a finisher medal.

Register in person at New Horizon Mall on December 8 with all proceeds donated to ARTS Senior Animal Rescue.
