Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival back for 2016

Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival is back in August, when almost 2,000 paddlers are set to hit the water in a multitude of races along the Elbow River.

More than 4000 spectators are also expected at this year’s festival, which takes place Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 at North Glenmore Park.

Spectators can cheer on paddlers in a huge number of dragon boat races throughout the weekend, including the Breast Cancer Sistership Race and the Dragon Boat Charity Race.

You’ll also be able to see performances on the Main Stage, including Chinese Lion Dances, music by Back in the Day, and Global Fest shows from Brazil, Kurdistan and the Caribbean.

The festival will also host a kids’ play zone, a beer garden and food vendors, including ShoGun Teppanyaki Grill, Subs ‘n Bubbles Food Truck and What-a-Namsam.

Entry is totally free.
