7 Calgary concerts to check out in April

Happy spring, Calgary!

As we head closer to summer, we’ll see more shows and bands coming to town. Until then, here’s a look at what’s ahead in terms of live music this month. From local to old school, it will be a sweet sounding month.

Yukon Blonde

Kelowna’s Yukon Blonde gave us 2013’s “Six Dead Tigers” and the 2015 hit “Saturday Night.” The Canadian trio is back on the road, with a stop in Calgary to kick off the month.

Weezer

Maybe it was once ‘Only in Dreams’ but now, seeing Weezer can be a reality! One of our favourite 90s bands return with a new album Feels like Summer and are on the road hitting our city soon. With Special Guests The Trews and The Flatliners!

SNAKEHIPS

You’ve probably had this song stuck in your head at some point this summer. Snakehips’ “All My Friends” is only one of the tracks that put this duo on the map! Check out their show this month for a sensual take on old school R & B and hip hop.

Good Charlotte

With all the 90s bands returning, it was only a matter of time before Good Charlotte came back. After starting out in 1996, the band released Youth Authority almost 20 years later, and they’re taking the album on the road.

Sum 41

Multiplatinum punk rockers Sum 41 are bringing their Don’t Call It a Sum-Back Tour to the city this month. The Ontario boys released their sixth full-length album 13 Voices in 2016 and the new album coincides with their latest North American tour. Are you ready for some Fat Lip?

Machine Gun Kelly

Cleveland rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly is in town for a show later this month. The award winning artist, who also goes by MGK, burst onto the music scene back in 2010 when he released his second mixtape 100 Words and Running. Kelly as an artist embodies every generation’s relentless perseverance toward creating a better path towards the future with some call good-old fashioned git, from the bottom up.

Jimmy Eat World

American punk rockers Jimmy Eat World are on a North American tour after they released their their ninth album, Integrity Blues, in October, 2016. Get ready to sing “The Middle” out loud.
