Birthdays are always a special occasion when you want your family and friends to come and celebrate the big day, especially as a child. But imagine if you left many of your loved ones behind.

For one Syrian refugee boy this was exactly the case. Generous people from our community responded in an amazing way, coming together for the boy’s sixth birthday party bearing gifts with them and filling the family’s home, according to the Calgary Sun.

The family of six gave a huge thank you, saying they were overwhelmed with warmth and love.

It’s not expected to be an easy transition to life in Calgary, but with the help of an awesome community welcoming them in, it will be a little easier.
