
It’s been an awfully snowy and windy week here in Calgary, and although a bit of a deep freeze is on tap for this weekend, the forecast sure is looking great for Christmas Day.
According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Calgary is well below average for today, Dec. 19; however, the thermometer will start to rise as we roll towards Christmas Day.
Calgary is forecast to reach a high of -16°C today, with an overnight low of -23°C, and a chance of flurries. Daytime highs remain quite frigid right through Monday, and on Tuesday, a bit of a warmer trend kicks into gear.
Christmas Eve will bring a mix of sun and cloud and a more seasonal daytime high of -4°C, and an overnight low of -7°C. Christmas Day will see a daytime high of -1°C.
When you do the math between tonight’s overnight low and the high on Christmas Day, it’s a temperature change of 22 degrees.

According to ECCC, the average high for Calgary around this time of year is -2°C, while the average low is -14°C.
