This shopping plaza Vietnamese spot just south of 162 Avenue SE has a trim menu of classic fare, and much of it is around $11 to $13, including many pho options (Beef Balls Soup $10.50) and noodle dishes (like the Spring Rolls on Rice Vermicelli for $11.50). They offer a traditional sub, banh mi, with your choice of filling, for $8.75.

Hong Kong Garden
For affordable Peking and Cantonese-style dishes, Shawnessy Village’s Hong Kong Garden has great lunch specials served Monday to Saturday, including two-item combos for $9.95 and curries for $10.95. Their “Dinner for one” is a bit pricier, at $14.95, or you can opt for a single a la carte option like their fried rice dishes, chicken wings, or chop suey, all around $10 each.

Hudsons Canada Pub
Head to this Canadian-themed pub chain’s Shawnessy location and land on some decent cheap eats, if you order wisely. Lighter fare like their house Caesar salad, soup of the day, and poutine all land under $10 a pop. Look for their lineup of daily specials to score some delas, too, like half-off wings during happy hour (3 to 6 pm weekdays) and Monday nights (6 pm to close), their 39-cent traditional wings on Wednesday nights, and their $9.50 nachos all day Sundays, plus drink specials.

This Italian chain is a surefire bet for cheap eats thanks to their All You Can Eat $9.99 soup, salad, and Garlic Homeloaf lunch special, offered daily. East Side Mario’s also offers $9.99 pasta and personal pizza lunch specials, too. If you’re headed there at dinner, you’ll have to buck up $13.99 for their selection of Everyday Value pasta and pizza meals.
