Whether you’re after a quick snack or meal, make sure you check out our weekly Cheap Eats post dedicated to affordable and tasty food in Calgary aimed at satisfying your belly without breaking the bank.
Today we’re rounding up a list of cheap eats in Calgary’s Mission neighbourhood for around $10.
Situated on the north side of 17th Avenue, Buttermilk Fine Waffles is all about those golden, fluffy, checker-board goodies, served up in sweet and savoury renditions. All their waffles come in at $10 or less, though if you start with a naked waffle ($6) and really pile on the toppings, you can get carried away (price-wise, we mean). Check out their Rachel’s Cinnamon Bun for $9 (Cinnamon Simple Syrup, Cream Cheese Frosting, Toasted Pecans) or the H.A.M. for $10
(Ham, Asiago, Grana Padano, Chives, Broiled). Bonus: They’re open until 10 p.m Monday to Thursday, and 11 p.m Friday and Saturday.

Fast food, Mexican-style in Calgary. Mucho Burrito’s 4th Street location, like the others in the local chain, offers up filling, affordable fare like burritos, tacos, and mucho more.

You’ll find Japanese fare, including sushi and sashimi, at Mission’s Sushikawa that handily comes in around the $10 range. Look for a simple curry dish, select udon, smaller sushi rolls, and of course some mix-and-match nigiri pieces to fill your belly without busting your wallet.

Wake up and smell the cheap eats at Purple Perk. This “coffee market” offers just about all their breakfast plates around the $9 range, as well as much of their lunch menu. They’re serving supper, too, where you can still score savings courtesy many of their comfort classics on offer.

Sometimes you need a cheap, hot, fast pizza, and 4th Street Pizza fits the bill nicely. Their extensive menu includes small pizzas for $11.50, a handful of salads under $10 apiece for single serve sizes, and, of course, since it’s pizza, the savings multiply the more mouths your feeding and the bigger the ‘za.
