Today we’re rounding up a list of deliciously melty grilled cheese sandwiches in the city for under $10.

Chachi’s

Known for their premium ciabatta-based sandwiches, Chachi’s prepares a variety of filling hand-held creations, including an $8 grilled cheese sandwich, which is stuffed with mozzarella, cheddar, jalapeno jack, fig chutney, and a dry herb garlic rub.

Naina’s Kitchen

This modest comfort food spot known for its stuffed burgers and poutine, dishes up a deliciously simple grilled cheese sandwich ($8.50). Served with a choice of homemade fries, soup, or salad, Naina’s “traditional” grilled cheese is layered with cheddar and Swiss cheese.

Cheezy Bizness

As the name suggests, this Calgary-based food truck handles some very cheesy offerings. For $8, customers can dig into the Say Cheese! sandwich, which is made up of a mix of cheddar and gruyere cheese, and served on light sourdough from Calgary-based Engel’s Bakery. For $1 more, there’s The Big Cheese, a greasy and delicious gourmet variation, which is composed of a pimento cheese, cheddar, and gruyere mix, dill pickles, and shaved red onion. The food truck is closed for the winter but will back on the road once the warmer weather returns.

Phil and Sebastian

In addition to pouring a great cup of coffee, Phil & Sebastian offers a mighty tasty grilled cheese ($8). Served at the Mission, Marda Loop, and Chinook locations, Phil & Sebastian’s grilled cheese is made up of Sylvan Star gruyere, which is pressed between bread from Yum Bakery, and served with a pot of house-made katsup.

Alforno Bakery & Café

Alongside breakfast items, soups, and salads, this recent Eau Claire addtion offers a panini-style grilled cheese sandwich ($8). Toasted in a convection oven, Alforno’s sandwich, which is made with the bakery’s own crusty sourdough bread, is filled with aged white cheddar, granny smith apple, red onion jam, and fresh thyme.

Located at the Calgary Farmers’ Market, this popular sandwich shop strives to use as many locally-sourced products as they can, particularly from the market’s own vendors. Market goers can indulge with their “BLCheese” ($10). Customers can expect to find soft, melty grilled cheese (made up of a mozzarella and cheddar mix) on locally-made potato bread, topped with mayo, lettuce, organic tomato, and bacon, plus a third piece of toasty bread sandwiched in for good measure.
