Luckily for all of us, there are many bookstores in YYC where you can let your imagination run wild, while you pick up a few new reads.

Pages Books on Kensington

An independent bookstore, Pages Books on Kensington is a cozy shop filled to the brim with a wide selection of books that are sure to hold something special. They sell new books, but you’re welcome to browse their used/bargain section too.

This bookstore will definitely have what you’re looking for. It is a funky little spot that’s put together almost like a yard sale. In addition to amazing books, they also offer literacy events for all ages in a dog-friendly environment.

Owl’s Nest Bookstore

Calgary’s oldest indie bookstore, Owl’s Nest Bookstore has been open for 40 years. Not only do they offer a wide variety of books, but they also host many different literary events. They offer a 10% discount on books if you (truthfully) tell them your purchase is for a book club.

This bookstore really is something special; it has been raising money for Calgary charities since 2003! They have over 50,000 used books in stock, and pocketbooks and kids books cost only $1 per item!

Fair’s Fair Books

Operating since 1988, this bookstore gives you the opportunity to be “part” of their business, by selling or trading gently used books in their two locations. Visit the Inglewood store if you would like to sell your books, and the Chinook/Warehouse location if you want to trade your book in for another one.
