Calgary tops list of best places to live in Canada in 2025
Global Citizen Solutions just released their 2025 best places to live in Canada list, and Calgary took the top spot.
The city’s mix of affordable living, high quality of life, and career opportunities helped it secure first place.
Calgary was also ranked the fifth most liveable city in the world in 2024 and the sixth best place to live and work in 2025.
So what makes Calgary stand out from the rest?

Living costs are moderate, with average monthly expenses for a single person, excluding rent, sitting around $1,581. Low taxes also help boost disposable income for residents.
The overall quality of life is high in Calgary, scoring a 176.3 on the quality of life index. The city boasts relatively low crime rates, excellent healthcare, and one of the largest education systems in Canada.
Work-life balance is highly achievable, with a vibrant culture, year-round music and arts festivals, and a thriving nightlife and dining scene that keeps the city lively and engaging for everyone.
The city’s neighbourhoods are also growing, with community events, diverse environments, and growing opportunities for housing around every corner. Local cafés, shops, and restaurants also contribute to the community-focused vibe of the city, giving each neighbourhood its own unique personality.
