After a close race, Jeromy Farkas has emerged victorious in the 2025 Calgary municipal election, according to the unofficial results.

Farkas’ campaign has focused on public safety, affordable housing, and job growth in Calgary. Other candidates in the mayoral race included Jeff Davidson, Sonya Sharp, Brian Thiessen and former mayor Jyoti Gondek.

Farkas, a born-and-raised Calgarian, served as Calgary’s Ward 11 councillor from 2017 to 2021. He ran for mayor in 2021, finishing in second place, before taking on the role of CEO at the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GPRF). However, he stepped down earlier this year to launch his 2025 mayoral campaign.

Farkas is currently leading with 91,065 votes, just narrowly ahead of Sonya Sharp, who has 90,480. Jyoti Gondek is sitting in third place with 71,397 votes, according to the unofficial results.

During the advanced voting period, 96,549 Calgarians cast ballots, representing 10.7 per cent of eligible voters. Turnout was much higher in the last municipal election, when 141,329 residents voted early.

Day six of advanced voting this year saw the largest amount of participation, with 22,144 ballots cast.

In addition to the mayoral race, Calgary’s 2025 municipal election also determined city councillors and school trustees. These results will shape who leads the city over the next four years and guide policy on key issues such as city planning, infrastructure, and public services.
