Cadence Coffee pays it forward, one cup at a time

Cadence Coffee has come up with a wonderful way to connect people and it’s all through a board that can be found at the back of the cafe.

Cadence Coffee employee Brittany Clark thought up the ‘Pay-It-Forward’ board, which aims at spreading kindness into Calgary. How the board accomplishes this task is simple: all you have to do is pay for a coffee or a special drink, it will then be put up on the board, which can later be redeemed by anyone who stops by the Bowness cafe.

“Anyone will be able to redeem [a drink] whenever they like,” says Clark.

Clark came up with the idea from a post she found online.

“I got the idea from this story that was shared on Facebook about a gentlemen in New York City who owns a pizza shop and they do the same thing there, but with pizza.”

The board has been up for about five months now and Clark says it has had a very positive response so far.

“We usually get about five people a day buying a drink for the board,” says Clark.

Interestingly enough more people seem to be buying drinks for the board than redeeming from it Clark notes. Perhaps, in the future if the board does well, Cadence Coffee will expand on it to include food, too, but Clark says coffee is a good starting point.
