Breaking Free Foundation Golf Tournament will include Theo Fleury and other Flames alumni

Sep 6 2017, 11:53 pm

Theo Fleury, Curtis Glencross, and Charles Simmer are just a few of the familiar names that will be attending the Breaking Free Foundation’s second annual golf tournament, an event that raises money to support Albertans suffering from PTSD, mental health issues, and trauma.

The tournament’s goal is to raise $25,000, which will allow 33 people to access the foundation’s Therapy Grant Program, a program that offers free therapy to trauma survivors.

Registration is open for those who would like to participate, and there is even a chance to play 18 holes alongside a former NHL player.

Also seen on the greens will be Dana Murzyn, Dennis Polonich, Lindsey Carson, and Mike Cvik, and Canadian Women’s Long Drive Record Holder Lisa “Longball ” Vlooswyk will be the first to tee off to get the tournament going.

The round of golf will be followed by a banquet, a silent auction, and a speech from Fleury himself.

Registration is $225 per person, with proceeds going towards the Therapy Grant Program.
