Ontario native and bestselling author Lawrence Hill is coming to Banff to talk about his new book, The Illegal. Following the life of main character Keita Ali, The Illegal critically exposes those who have turned their backs on undocumented refugees who are struggling to survive in their new country.

Hill’s novel, The Book of Negroes, brought his work into public eye, won numerous awards, and was turned into a six part television miniseries on CBC Television. The cast featured actors Aunjanue Ellis, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Louis Gossett, Jr. It was filmed in South Africa, Nova Scotia and Ontario in early 2014 and premiered in Cannes, Toronto and Manhattan.

Overnight packages are available from The Banff Centre for two tickets to the event, one nights accommodation, and breakfast for two.
